ARGUS RESEARCH CAMPUS
SUMMARY:
The Argus Research Campus was founded almost a decade before the first outbreak, as close as anyone can tell. It's a hi-tech, towering facility dedicated to researching and curing various diseases. When it was built, the facility was completely isolated from the rest of the world and existed almost entirely in secret. Due to the delicate and often-dangerous research carried out within its walls, the only means of transporting the researchers to or from the Campus was by air or by sea.
After the outbreak, the Red Halos turned the abandoned facility into a haven for researchers, doctors, and scientists alike to continue their research and discover a cure, while providing refuge and care for the people who survived the horror of the 'undead invasion'.
A.R.C. has very few vehicles at their disposal, including one ship, two helicopters, and a few assorted land based vehicles. Parts and fuel are rather hard to come by, so they cannot take frequent trips with these vehicles and they are mostly used in emergencies only. Of the helicopters, one is a reclaimed Blackhawk and the other is a small news chopper that has only been recently discovered. The Albatross is the one ship A.R.C. operates, and was with the island when the the facility was reclaimed. The Albatross is used instead of the helicopters to dispatch troops to the mainland, because she can carry land vehicles in her cargo area, which are used to assist the Zombie Hunters if they need hauling or emergency ground support.

A.R.C. ISLAND
SUMMARY:
The Island where A.R.C. is located is a fair sized (33 sq. km.) man-made fertile land mass providing adequate farm lands, lakes, and forest, providing the A.R.C. civilians with fresh food and water. It's located in a warm temperate zone, and can experience a range of climate conditions. The weather is favorable for the residents providing warm summers, and generally mild winters perfect for farming. The island itself is self-sustaining and there are many living facilities about the campus and throughout the rest of the island so that the researchers could live there for years if they so desired. But even though A.R.C. is mostly self-sustained, supplies are always limited, and people must follow strict guidelines regarding recycling and waste disposal.
The perimeter of the island is heavily guarded to prevent zombies or other such undesirables from entering. The island seawalls, which were used to prevent erosion, are now topped with heavy concrete barricades, which in turn protect the catwalks that allow the island's defenders to patrol and look out across the shores of the ARC.

RESEARCH & SCIENCE WARD
SUMMARY:
Two floors of the A.R.C. building are dedicated to scientific research. The research staff of 30 uses these floors to carry out research for medicines and the research of the Outbreak Virus.

CIVILIAN VILLAGE
SUMMARY:
Not far from the harbor is the uninfected civilian village. Rich with culture, this is where most of A.R.C.'s population is situated. The village is a bit cramped and is mostly composed of makeshift houses and small business vendors, providing homegrown produce, handmade clothing, and other items. It has everything that you would need, even small clinics for the general practitioners and registered nurses, so that the doctors at A.R.C. can tend to emergencies and the more critical patients.

FARMS AND FIELDS
SUMMARY:
Up the dirt road from the village is the farming zone. There is one main farm that grows all of A.R.C.'s main produce, to augment the scant produce that can be found as salvage from the wastelands. The villagers farm various fruits, vegetables, and grains, and also have moderate sized fields with small herds of cattle, pigs, and chickens. For the colder winter months A.R.C. stockpiles food (and stresses that the civilians do as well) since only limited food can be grown in the greenhouses.

HARBOR
SUMMARY:
The harbor is the main entrance to the island by sea. This is where Zombie Hunters and Red Halo troops disembark and where salvage is unloaded and transported to the quarantine facility nearby to check for safety for consumption.

QUARANTINE
SUMMARY:
Quarantine is where people and items go to be checked for contamination from the wastes. Eventually, quarantined items are either cleared for safe entry onto the island, or they are carefully destroyed by incineration to prevent the spread of contamination. Personnel passing through quarantine are sent through decontamination, then examined for signs of infection. If a formerly uninfected individual has contracted the virus, they are labeled appropriately and reassigned to the infected barracks.

INFECTED BARRACKS
SUMMARY:
Almost a small village in itself, the Infected barracks are a fenced in area near the military barracks. The infected barracks serves as a home for nearly 1,000 residents, where they live, eat, sleep, and carry out their lives within their own world. However, there are certain days where the infected are allowed to leave the barracks and go into town, to work, visit un-infected family members, or to visit friends and see the sights. Outside visitation for infected persons is heavily monitored and curfew can vary from person to person. All infected persons need to return to their quarters at specified times or else serious consequences may occur. Uninfected persons can visit the infected barracks anytime they wish despite the risk of becoming infected. However, visitors do have to submit to being tested after they leave the compound to see if they have contracted the virus.
Infected who have chosen more dangerous professions often have more perks than their comrades. Zombie Hunters live in the barracks as well, though they may choose to live in team dorms or an individual residence of their own.

WASTELANDS
SUMMARY:
A lot has changed since the outbreak. Anyone who lives in the Wastes is at high risk of death, injury or disease. The urban wastelands, a hodgepodge of contaminated areas and overgrown parks and lawns, are home to indeterminate numbers of the walking dead. Zombies of every class lurk around every corner and seek out the flesh of the living. Humans in the wastes now find themselves on the food chain and are hunted every moment of their lives.
Industries and many factories have collapsed and explosions of toxic chemicals and various reactions have caused fires to burn for years. Without anyone to put out the fires, entire cities have burned to the ground. But nature has also taken over and much of what was destroyed by the human population is slowly recovering. Many parts of the world wouldn't be considered a wasteland at all, but are rather lush, green forests overgrowing the untended houses and buildings. Animals roam the once busy streets and highways and make homes in human houses. Domesticated pets have since gone feral, roaming the suburban landscape in packs. Creatures that have escaped from zoos are found anywhere the local environment will support them- even in areas where they normally wouldn't be native.
People who live in the wastes are now called Wastelanders. Stories have been told about their resilience and nomadic nature. As the number of people found or rescued from the wastes continues to decline, the 'wastelander' has begun to take on an almost mythic quality. Though no additional survivors have been discovered for many years, some true believers insist that there are others still out there.
